Why Mindfulness Meditation?

What Is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a life practice which involves being intensely aware of this present moment in a non-judgemental manner, by sensing and feeling this moment to its fullest. It allows us to replace reactive patterns with conscious, healthy responses that come from our trusted and unconditioned selves. It takes us out of a life enmeshed in our pasts and in our worries about our futures into a fully realized life based in this present moment.

What is Mindfulness Meditation?

Living a mindful life can be done without a regular meditation practice BUT mindfulness meditation allows us to regularly practice coming in to this present moment through focusing on an object such as the breath. IT DOES NOT REQUIRE US TO STOP THINKING or to CLEAR THE MIND. It is a gentle, non-judgmental practice that teaches us how to live right now and understand where we are in this moment with greater ease, authenticity and groundedness.

How Will It Help Me?

Victor Frankl (the author of Man’s Sense of Meaning) said: “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and freedom.”
Mindfulness meditation teaches us to see, feel and be aware of that space.

Scientific studies conducted at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and more, have all shown evidence that with consistent meditation (and after only two months), the part of the brain that controls aggressiveness, fear, anxiety, and stress actually shrinks. Over time meditators lead more peaceful, productive, calm and fulfilled lives. These same studies have also proven that meditation can lead to enhanced learning, ability to retain and memorize new information, and expanded knowledge retention.
